November, 1999 – Benton Harbor, Mich. – Whirlpool Corporation is expanding its partnership with Habitat for Humanity® by upgrading every home that a Habitat affiliate builds in North America with an ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerator as well as a range at no cost. Whirlpool is also making available, as a low-cost option, Resource Saver laundry pairs and dishwashers. These upgraded appliances will go a long way toward making a Habitat family’s income go further as all Americans are faced with rising energy costs. The Whirlpool ENERGY STAR® qualified and Resource Saver appliances will save a typical Habitat family up to $10,000 over the course of a 30-year loan. Whirlpool’s vision for Habitat also includes inviting their employees and their families to volunteer time and talent so that they can experience the unforgettable, life-changing experience that is Habitat. Many of Whirlpool’s employees have already taken advantage of this opportunity in their communities and at special events like the International Builders’ Show and at special builds across the country. Whirlpool feels very strongly that the impact of its partnership with Habitat, which began in 1999 with a $25 million donation in product over five years will continue to grow. > back |
