July, 2000 – Campaign Capsules, A Publication of Habitat for Humanity® – The people who make and sell Whirlpool appliances announced the first Cornerstone gift to the More Than Houses campaign. Gifts of at least $10 million constitute Cornerstone level giving. The $25 million commitment will provide a new stove and refrigerator for every Habitat house built in the United States and Canada through the end of the campaign. This unprecedented gift is the largest one-time contribution made by a corporate partner in the history of Habitat for Humanity®! The gift was announced January 15 at the Fort Worth, Texas, Habitat home of E. L. and Mary Young. Whirlpool’s president and chief operating office Jeff Fettig, executive vice president for North America Mike Thieneman, and general manager for Contract Marketing Tom Halford were on hand for this splendid occasion.
